JAG : Characters Biographies

1) Harmon Rabb

As the series lead, Harm is the character we know the most about. Harm's birthday is October 25, 1963 - which made him just shy of 32 when the show premiered in September of 1995. The two most important character elements are his MIA father and his status as a former Navy pilot. We know that Harm's father was a decorated Navy pilot whose plane went down over Vietnam during the Vietnam war in 1969. Harm's family received the news of his MIA status on Christmas Eve. Capt. Thomas Boone (the CAG), who has appeared in a few episodes was Harm's father's best friend and his wingman on the day he went down. As far as we know, Harm is an only child and he idolized his
father. His mother, Trish, is re-married to Frank, a VP at Chrysler.
When Harm was 16, he went to Laos in search of his father. He was accompanied by Col. Francis Stryker - we never see Col. Stryker, but he is mentioned in three episodes (Deja Vu, Survivors, High Ground) While in Laos, he falls in love with a young Vietnamese girl who is killed.
Harm is an Academy graduate, and served as a Naval aviator until his night blindness contributed to an accident that occurred while he was trying to land his Tomcat on a carrier. His RIO was killed. Although he was cleared of any responsibility in the accident, he was forced to give up being a Navy pilot. After his crash, he spent a great deal of time with his grandmother, Sarah, in Belleville, PA.(Full Engagement)
As the series premiered, Harm was a Lieutenant. He was promoted to Lt. Commander in the first season episode Defensive Action. In We the People, the first episode of the second season, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (for saving the CAG's life in the Pilot episode).
Harm's first romance on the show was the oft mentioned, but never seen relationship with Maria Elena Carmelita Romero Guttierez in the first season. In the second season episode Jinx, he expresses some interest in Annie Pendry, the widow of his friend Luke, who died in the first season episode Pilot Error. He and Annie did eventually become involved (Someone to Watch Over Annie) and he became quite attached to her son Josh. But they had immediate problems in their relationship - Annie, the widow of a Navy flier, hated the military and was completely against her son having any involvement in it. She was also hesitant to get involved with another risk-taker, like her late-husband. The relationship ended after Harm neglected to tell Annie that the ship he and Josh were going sailing on was a Navy ship and it got taken over by terrorists (Tiger,Tiger).
During the first half of the third season, he fell for Ensign Lane, whom he was defending in the episode Defenseless. But, this didn't go anywhere. Harm and Mac shared a kiss in Death Watch, but it seemed to be the results of all the emotions brought up by finding out who murdered his old love Diane (who happened to be a dead ringer for Mac).
Much attention has been paid to Harm's ongoing search for his father during the third season. In the season premiere, Ghost Ship, he got his hands on a mysterious book that lists his father among a group of POWs transferred to Russia. Unfortunately, the book is stolen from him. In the episode The People vs Rabb, Harm gets his first piece of evidence that his father might still be alive - a picture supposedly taken in the early 1980's. Harm believes that his father is still alive and in the third season ender he and
Mac go to Russia in search of Harm Sr. (To Russia With Love).
In the fourth season opener, Gypsy Eyes, Harm finds out that his father did survive after the war and was in Russia, but he died trying to protect a Russian woman from soldiers.
During the first part of the fourth season, Harm had his share of romance. He shared a kiss with Congresswoman Bobbi Latham (Mr. Rabb Goes to Washington) and became involved with Lt. Commander Jordan Parker (Jaggle Bells), a naval psychiatrist.
Harm and Jordan became serious very quickly. Jordan was kidnapped by Clark Palmer (Wilderness of Mirrors) and held hostage in Harm's apartment. Harm was able to save her by figuring out Palmer's tricks. Their relationship hit a rocky patch when Harm decided that he wanted to return to flying (Goodbyes). The future of their relationship was left uncertain by the end of the season.
Harm embarked on two new quests during the end of the fourth season. The first began after he was called in when the body of an abused and neglected child was found in the bathroom of a military base (Nobody's Child). In the course of the investigation, Harm discovered that the little girl, Annie, had a twin, Dar-lin. With the help of Commander Teresa Coulter (guest star Trisha Yearwood), he found Dar-lin, but learned that Annie's killer, a man named Charlie, was missing. Charlie, the boyfriend of the girls' aunt, had taken off after Annie was killed. Harm became determined to protect Dar-lin and find
Charlie. Charlie surfaced in the episode Goodbyes looking for Dar-lin. Charlie had already killed the girls' aunt and a Navy officer. Using the officer's uniform and identification, he was able to find and take Dar-lin. Harm confronted Charlie in an abandoned ship and Charlie is killed in a struggle over a gun. Dar-lin is safe and can now be adopted.
Harm's second quest was returning to flying. In the episode Shakedown Harm began to feel the strong urge to fly again. Harm visited a doctor and found out that he was misdiagnosed. He did not have night-blindness, he had retinal scarring and it was correctable by laser surgery (Second Sight). Harm made the decision that he wanted to return to flying (Yeah, Baby) and turns in he transfer order to the Admiral. He made his final decision to leave JAG and return to flying in the episode Goodbyes.
Harm suffered a great trauma towards the end of the season when his beloved red Corvette was stolen and stripped for parts, forcing him to get a practical car.  (Soul Searching) In King of the Greenie Board, we find out that Harm went to a carrier afterleaving JAG, and he is the commander of the Badman air group.

Le capitaine de corvette Harmon Rabb Jr (Lieutenant Commander) (on l'appelle Harm) est joué par l'acteur canadien David James Eliott, et c'est le personnage principal, et par la même celui dont le passé est le plus connu.Harm est né le 25 octobre 1963, il a donc trente deux ans au début de la série, (jouée pour la première fois en 1995 aux USA).Les éléments les plus importants dans la vie d'Harm, sont le fait que son père soit porté disparu durant la guerre du Viet-Nam, et son passé de pilote de chasse dans l'aéronavale.On sait que son père lui aussi pilote dans la marine et décoré, a été abattu au dessus du Viet-Nam durant la guerre en 1969. La nouvelle a été apportée à sa mère Trish, la veille de Noël. Elle est à présent remariée au Vice Président de Chrysler.Harm est diplomé de la Naval Academy. Il a servi comme pilote de l'aéronavale (à l'image de son père), jusqu'à ce que ses troubles de la vision nocturne concourent au crash de son Tomcat alors qu'il tentait d'attérir sur un porte avion. Son officier d'interception radar (R.I.O) y perdit la vie. Lavé de tout soupçon, on sait qu'après avoir été forcé d'abandonner sa carrière de pilote, il passe un long moment chez sa grand-mère Sarah à Belleville en Pennsylvanie. (épisode Full Engagement)Au début de la série, Harm est lieutenant, il est promu au grade de capitaine de corvette au cours de la première saison lors de l'épisode Defensive Action et dans le deuxième épisode de la seconde saison, il est décoré de Distinguished Flying Cross, pour avoir sauvé la vie du CAG(officier commandant l'escadron aérien sur un porte avion Captain of the Air Group) dans l'épisode pilote.Dans la troisième saison, les scénaristes exploitent le fait que Harm recherche toujours son père disparu. Dans le premier épisode (Ghost Ship), il trouve un mystérieux carnet contenant les noms de plusieurs militaires américains transférés du Viet-Nam vers l' U.R.S.S malheureusement il se le fait voler. Dans le dernier épisode de la saison, on lui met entre les mains une photo de son père prise en Russie prouvant qu'il pourrait être encore vivant. (To Russia With Love)Il découvre le destin tragique de son père dans l'épisode Gypsy Eyes, le premier de la saison 4 ; après s'être rendu en Sibérie accompagné de Mac. Quelques mois plus tard, remplaçant une obsession par une autre, Harm éprouve de plus en plus l'envie de revoler. Il découvre qu'il peut recouvrer sa vision nocturne moyennant une opération de routine (dans l'épisode Second Sight). Et obtient un changement d'affectation. Dans le dernier épisode de la 4e saison, il quitte le JAG pour rejoindre l'USS Patrick Henry où est stationnée son escadrille.Dans les trois premiers épisodes de la 5e saison, Harm est pilote sur le Patrick Henry, mais il est aussi officier juridique de l'escadrille, quelque chose qu'il avait cru avoir laissé derrière lui en quittant le JAG. Lorsqu'un des hommes de son escadrille fait feu sur des soldats de la pays russes pendant une patrouille, il le défend lors de sa cour martiale.Finalement, Harmon Rabb retourne au JAG, sur l'insistance de son chef d'escadrille. Non sans avoir été cité pour une seconde DFC. Durant la 5e saison, il est promu au grade de Capitaine de frégate (commander) (épisode Contemptous Words). Son amitié avec Mac n'est plus la même et il ne s'entend pas du tout avec l'Australien Brumby, contrairement à Mac.

2) Sarah Mackenzie

Marine Major Sarah "Mac" MacKenzie became Harm's new partner at the start of the second season. Sarah is referred to as "Mac." Mac like Meg graduated from Officers Candidate School. We know that she served in Bosnia. Mac comes from a very sad and tough past. She is a recovered alcoholic that hasn't has a drink since she was 19. The backbone behind this recovery was her uncle Matt. A Marine. The drinking problem originated from a history that included an abusive father. Mac has an unkown originated skill of being able to tell the time. She always gets the time right and is never off by more than 30 seconds. She resembled a dead Lt by the name of Dianne Shonke from the first seasons cliffhanger.(That's because Catherine Bell played both roles.)
 

Le Major Sarah Mackenzie (que tout le monde appelle "Mac") fait sa première apparition dans le premier épisode de la seconde saison : "We the people" en tant qu' officier dans le corps des marines assignée comme partenaire au Capitaine Rabb. On apprend entre autres qu'adolescente elle a été sujette à l'alcoolisme, elle réussit à arrêter de boire après la mort de son meilleur ami dans un accident de voiture dû à leur état d'hébriété. Dans ce premier épisode on apprend que c'est son oncle Matt colonel des marines qui l'a aidé à se sevrer de l'alcool. A la fin de la deuxième saison, on apprend que c'est son père, alcoolique lui même et père abusif, qui est à l'origine de l'alcoolisme de Mac. Le peu que l'on apprend du passé du Major Mackenzie suggère qu'elle n'est pas femme à accorder facilement sa confiance à qui que ce soit, et qu'elle a bâti un mur autour d'elle pour se protéger. Cependant on nous laisse voir qu'elle est aussi vulnérable quand elle accepte de devenir amie avec Harm. Sa vie personnelle est un véritable sac de noeuds, dans la quatrième saison, on aprend qu'elle esst mariée lorsque son mari apparaît pour réclamer de l'argent (" Mr Rabb goes to Washington"). Dans le même temps, Mac découvre que Chris, son mari, la suivait depuis le début de sa carrière, qu'il sait qu'elle a eu une liaison avec un officier supérieur techniquement son commandant. Elle sera jugée en court martiale (dans l'épisode "People vs Mac") et acquitée. Elle aura 2 relations amoureuses: lors de la 3ème saison, Dalton Lawn, un avocat civil qui se fait tuer au cours de la même saison ("The stalker"), lors de la 5ème et 6ème saison, Mic Brumby, un avocat australien affecté au JAG pour une certaine période. A la mort de son père, elle fera la paix avec elle-même et son passé en lui pardonnant dans l'épisode "Second Sight", durant lequel elle recontre aussi sa mère qui l'avait abandonnée, et comprend pourquoi celle-ci en fut réduite à cette extremité. Professionellement, on sait qu'elle a fait l'OCS (Officers Candidate School), qu'elle a servi en Bosnie avec l'unité 29 des Forces de Reconnaissance des marines. Elle obtient une promotion de Lieutenant Colonel dans l'épisode "Rules of Engagement" durant la cinquième saison.

3) A.J. Chegwidden

Admiral A.J. Chegwidden is a Seal that as they say, brocken every rule of advancement in ranks. He want's to be the next chief of naval operations but people doubt that because they ain't going to make a naval lawyer top dog. He went to Vietnam, commanded a destroyer, got his law degree then joined JAG. Only god knows why. He then headed JAG In the Pacific before heading JAG period. He did have a pretty intense relationship with a judge until she got killed by a bomb at her house. Admiral Chegwidden looks up to Admiral Burke, a retired naval hero. People sometimes call him A.J. which stands for Albert Jethro.

L'amiral Chegwidden apparaît pour la première fois au milieu de la première saison, dans l'épisode "Smoked". On apprend qu'il est un ancien SEAL (commando d'élite de la marine), ayant servi comme tel au Viet-Nam. Il a ensuite commandé un destroyer, avant d'obtenir son diplôme de droit et d'intégrer le JAG. Il a été à la tête du bureau du JAG pacifique avant d'être nommé Juge Avocat General. Au point de vue personnel, il a une liaison avec un juge (Laura Delaney) durant la deuxième saison. Elle est tuée lors de l'épisode "Ghosts". Dans la troisième saison (" someone to watch over Annie"), on apprend, que lorqu'il était stationné en Italie il s'est marié, que le mariage n'a pas duré. mais qu'il a eu une fille ; elle s'apelle Francesca Paretti et est journaliste de mode, âgée d'environ 25 ans, elle vit à Naples. Dans l'épisode "War Stories", on aprend que les initiales A.J signifient Albert Jethro. Lors de la 5ème saison, il rencontre un médecin (Sydney Walden) avec qui il a une liaison.

4) Bud Roberts

Lt (j.g) Bud Roberts appeared in a few of the first season's epsiodes. In the pilot and in the cliffhanger. Both times they were on a carrier and both times he was an Ensign. He was the Public Affairs Officer. He then became a series regular when Meg left, because Meg gave recommendations for Bud to replace her. He is still in law school, but it seems that all his friends believe that he will without doubt, be a great lawyer one day. He is a very comical character, although it seems that he does not intend to be. He drives a red car that looks like "Hermie," and it's not relliable because it broke down on the way to his date, Harriet. Which brings me to another point, Harriet replaces Bud as the Public Affairs Officer on the Sea Hawk when he leaves.

Bud fait une première aparition dans le pilote de la série, où il joue un jeune enseigne en charge des relations publiques sur le Seahawk. Dans le premier épisode de la seconde saison, on apprend que Bud a été promu Lt. jg et qu'il a été tranféré au QG du JAG sur recommendation de Meg Austin, avant son départ. Bud est étudiant en droit et il sert en tant qu'assistant du tandem Harm/Mac. Bud rencontre l'enseigne Harriet Sims, qui occupe son poste précédent dans l'épisode "Crossing the Line". Ils ont leur premier rendez-vous galant dans l'épisode "Washington Holidays". Dans l'épisode de son mariage, ("Wedding Bells Blues") on apprend que Bud a un jeune frère, Mickey qui veux devenir illustrateur. Dans l'épisode "War stories", Bud apprend que son frère s'est engagé dans la marine. Brillant étudiant, son bon travail fait que l'amiral lui donne de plus grandes responsabilités, il obtient peu après son diplôme d'avocat. Pour sa première affaire, il défend son père, accusé de vol, c'est Harm le procureur. Bud remporte la victoire, sans savoir que son père était réellement coupable. Il est promu lieutenant durant la cinquième saison et porte l'insigne des avocats du JAG sur ses épaulettes.

5) Harriet Sims

We first see Harriet in the second season episode, Crossing the Line. She replaced Bud on the Seahawk as Public Affairs officer. In the episode Washington Holiday, she and Bud go on their first date. In the third season, she was transferred to JAG HQ.
She and Bud began a serious (and often humorous) relationship. Bud proposed to her near the end of the third season (Tiger, Tiger).
Harriet, sweet and slightly naive, comes from a very rich (Yesterday's Heroes), Southern family. This caused a rift between her and Bud for a while because he was angry she did not tell him how wealthy her family was. Her mother, a pretty difficult woman, did not approve of Bud. This was resolved in time for them to get married in the next to last episode of the season (Wedding Bell Blues).
Since married couples can not work together, Harriet was transferred to the Inspector General's office, but Admiral Chegwidden arranged for her to still work out of JAG HQ.
In the fourth season, Harriet finds out that she is pregnant (Embassy ). After moving a something heavy, she feels pain and fears that she might loose the baby (The Martin Baker Fan Club). Despite this scare, everything is now doing well and she and Bud are awaiting the birth of their first child, a boy, (War Stories) later this season. The baby boy, AJ, was delivered by Admiral Chegwidden in the episode Yeah, Baby.
Harriet is also promoted to Lt. (jg) in the fourth season.  She took several months leave after her child was born, but returned to JAG in King of the Greenie Board.

Harriet apparaît pour la première fois dans l'épisode "Crossing the line", où elle remplace Bud Roberts en tant qu'officier chargé des relations publiques sur l'USS Seahawk. Le personnage d'Harriet est doux et naïf, Harriet vient d'une riche famille du sud des Etats-Unis. Dans l'épisode "Washington Holidays", elle et Bud ont leur premier rendez-vous galant. Au cours de la troisième saison, Harriet est transférée au QG du JAG où travaille le reste des personnages. Sa relation avec Bud devient sérieuse, et c'est souvent l'occasion de mettre un peu d'humour dans la série. Bud fait sa demande à la fin de la troisième saison dans l'épisode "Tiger, Tiger". Les couples mariés ne pouvant pas travailler ensemble sous le même commandement, Harriet est transférée au bureau de l'inspection générale, mais l'amiral Chegwidden, usera de son influence afin qu'elle puisse travailler au QG du JAG. Harriet est promue Lieutenant Junior Grade à la fin de la quatrième saison. Le couple a un premier enfant lors de la 4ème saison ("Yeah baby"), qu'ils nomment A.J. en l'honneur de l'amiral. Ils ont un 2ème enfant, une fille nommée Sarah, lors de la 6ème saison mais elle meurt à sa naissance.

6) Clayton Webb

Clayton Webb, the sometimes Special Assistant to State (who certainly has ties to the CIA), first appears in the second season opener, We the People. In typical Webb fashion, his agenda regarding the theft of the Declaration of Independence in not clear. Webb's next appearance was trying to help Bud, Mac and Admiral Chegwidden, who are being held hostage by an escaped prisoner (Secrets). Webb reappears to reveal parts of the truth and obscure others three more times in the second season
(Ghosts, Washington Holiday, The Game of Go) Webb was also captured and held hostage by drug lords in the episode The Game of Go.
Webb first appeared in the third season episode Ghost Ship. When Harm was arrested for the murder of an F.B.I. agent, Webb arranged for him to break out of jail and prove his innocence (The People vs. Rabb).
In season four, Webb showed up in Russia to investigate the report of Harm and Mac's death (Gypsy Eyes) and ends up on the receiving end of Admiral Chegwidden's anger. In the episode Embassy, Webb sends Harm and Mac to infiltrate a party at the Sudanese Embassy, but neglects to tell them about the true nature of their mission. So far, Webb has appeared in one more fourth season episode, The Black Jet.
Very little is known about Webb's private life. Webb's mother was briefly seen in the second season and appears to be a socialite. We also know that Webb competed in the Olympics, has (or had) a girlfriend, and owns fish.

Clayton Webb apparaît pour la première fois dans le premier épisode de la seconde saison : "We the People". Dans un aute épisode il essaie d'aider Bud, Mac et l'amiral, retenus en otage par un prisonnier évadé. Il réapparait ensuite pour révéler des morceaux de la vérité ou clarifier un point obscur. Il est aussi capturé et retenu en otage par un seigneur de la drogue, il demande parfois à Harm et Mac de remplir certaines missions d'infiltration (épisode "Embassy"). Cela est dû au fait que Clayton est un agent de la CIA, il a donc accès à un maximum d'information, qu'il fait parfois profiter à Harm et Mac. Sa vie privée est très peu connue, on sait que sa mère est très riche, et a une vie sociale importante, et c'est à peu près tout.

7) Mic Brumby

Brumby is a rugged, dashing Australian military officer who is working with the JAG Corps as part of an official military exchange. He is smitten by Mac, and is not discouraged by her constant refusals of his romantic overtures. Although he works with Harm, the two men have butted heads on a few occasions.

Le capitaine de corvette Michael James "Mic" Brumby est jouer; par l'acteur Trévor Goddard. Il fait son apparition lors de la quatrième saison dans l'episode "Mr. Rabb Goes to Washington". (Pour queleques minutes de plus)
Australien, détaché à l'origine pour une courte mission, celle-ci sera prolonger avec le retour de Harm dans une escadrille.
De son passé, nous ne connaisson rien, sinon qu'il a été boxeur professionnel avant de s'engager dans la marine.
Bien que "maladroit" dans la vie privée, (il demandera à Mac si le sperme congelé qu'elle transporte durant tout un épisode est destiné à son usage personnel !!!) Brumby se révèle être un bon avocat.
Bien qu'il quitte le JAG durant l'épisode"l'alternative" (Life or Death) Bumby ne disparait pas pour autant de la série.
"Faire valoir" des relations Harm-MAc il est le" rival" de Harm: Il tombe amoureux de Mac et la demande en mariage durant la cinquième saison... (Boomerang 2/2)

8) Jason Tiner

As the legal yeoman assigned to assist Admiral Chegwidden, Tiner plays a small, but important, role in the JAG Corps. In addition to his legal skills, he is also adept with electronic equipment.

Tiner est le secrétaire de l'amiral Chegwidden, il apparaît dans la plupart des épisodes de la deuxième saison et dans la quatrième saison. On dit que son prénom serait Jason.

9) Victor Galindez

Gunnery Sergeant Victor Galindez is in charge of running the JAG office of Harm and Mac. He is recruited by Mac who recognized that his background in police work could come in handy.
